Alex Colville

Alex Colville is internationally recognized as one of Canada's best realist artists. Born in Toronto in 1920 and graduating from Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1942, he then enlisted in the Canadian Army and spent the next few years of his life working overseas as a war artist. On his return, he began teaching at Mount Allison University. Colville has had numerous exhibitions including Toronto, New York, Beijing and Tokyo. Alex Colville has received numerous honorary LLD's from various distinguished Universities as well as medals, appointments and commissions. Alex had lived in Nova Scotia since 1929 with his wife of fifty years, Rhoda, in their family home. Alex Colville died peacefuly at his home on July 16, 2013.
